Who we are
This website is operated by LM Gems, the bespoke fine jewellery house founded by Laura Mecattaf, who is the controller of any personal information handled through it. For anything in this policy, write to info@lmgems.co. The site is built and maintained on LM Gems’ behalf by Built Studio LLC, acting as a processor.
What we collect, and why
Enquiries. When you send an enquiry (from the contact page, Create With Us, or a piece page) we receive the details you type: your name, email address, mobile number, preferred way to be contacted, and your message. We use them for one thing — replying to you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you initiated. The website itself stores none of it: your enquiry is delivered to LM Gems’ inbox and kept there only as long as the conversation needs.
Counting visits, without cookies. The site counts visits using Vercel Web Analytics, and nothing else measures you here. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device. It records the page you viewed, the referring site, and coarse details such as country, browser and device type. It also counts a few actions on the site, such as opening a piece, choosing a catalogue filter or tapping WhatsApp, as totals with the piece or filter involved. To avoid counting the same visit twice it derives a value from your IP address and browser, which Vercel rotates daily and does not keep, so it cannot be used to recognise you tomorrow or follow you to another site. No profile is built and nothing is sold or shared.
Nothing else. There are no accounts, no payments on the site, no advertising pixels, and no data collected about children. Testimonials shown on the site were supplied to Laura with consent and appear as initials.
Who processes it, and where
Named plainly: Vercel hosts the site, runs its server functions in the eastern United States (us-east-1), and also provides the visitor counter described above, processed in the United States; Resend delivers enquiry emails to LM Gems’ inbox; Sanity hosts the site’s content (catalogue, stories — not visitor data). If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation happens under WhatsApp’s own terms, started by you. If you are in the EEA or UK, this means your enquiry is processed in the United States by these providers.
How long we keep things
Enquiries live in LM Gems’ mailbox until the conversation is resolved and no longer needed. The visit counter keeps only aggregate counts, which contain nothing that identifies you. The record of your cookie choice stays in your own browser until you clear it or change it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the UAE PDPL), you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how it is used, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything that happened before. Email info@lmgems.co and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes
If this policy changes materially, the version date above changes with it.
