Who we are

This website is operated by LM Gems, the bespoke fine jewellery house founded by Laura Mecattaf, who is the controller of any personal information handled through it. For anything in this policy, write to info@lmgems.co. The site is built and maintained on LM Gems’ behalf by Built Studios LLC, acting as a processor.

What we collect, and why

Enquiries. When you send an enquiry (from the contact page, Create With Us, or a piece page) we receive the details you type: your name, email address, mobile number, preferred way to be contacted, and your message. We use them for one thing — replying to you. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering an enquiry you initiated. The website itself stores none of it: your enquiry is delivered to LM Gems’ inbox and kept there only as long as the conversation needs.

Analytics — only with your consent. If (and only if) you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors browse: pages viewed, catalogue filters used, and similar aggregate behaviour, together with a truncated IP address and a random visitor identifier. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via Cookie preferences in the footer. If you decline — or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal — the analytics script is never loaded at all.

Nothing else. There are no accounts, no payments on the site, no advertising pixels, and no data collected about children. Testimonials shown on the site were supplied to Laura with consent and appear as initials.

Who processes it, and where

Named plainly: Vercel hosts the site and runs its server functions in the eastern United States (us-east-1); Resend delivers enquiry emails to LM Gems’ inbox; Google processes analytics data (only after consent) on Google’s global infrastructure, including the US; Sanity hosts the site’s content (catalogue, stories — not visitor data). If you choose to contact us on WhatsApp, that conversation happens under WhatsApp’s own terms, started by you. If you are in the EEA or UK, this means your enquiry is processed in the United States by these providers.

How long we keep things

Enquiries live in LM Gems’ mailbox until the conversation is resolved and no longer needed. Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for a limited period set in the property (at most 14 months) and only exists if you consented. The record of your cookie choice stays in your own browser until you clear it or change it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, and the UAE PDPL), you can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how it is used, and withdraw consent at any time without affecting anything that happened before. Email info@lmgems.co and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the version date above changes with it and the site will ask for consent again where the law requires it.
