Accessibility statement

Last reviewed 4 September 2026

LM Gems wants everyone to be able to browse the collection, read about the stones, and reach Laura — whatever device, browser or assistive technology you use.

The standard we target

This website aims to conform to WCAG 2.1 level AA, the standard referenced by EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act. We believe the site currently meets that level.

How we checked

On 4 September 2026 we ran an automated audit (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A and AA rules) across fifteen page types — home, the catalogue and its categories, a piece page, a gemstone page, the Stone Room, the Shapes, the journal, About, Create With Us, Contact and the policy pages — at both a 390px phone width and a 1280px desktop width. It reported no violations. We also checked by hand that: every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard in a sensible order; a “Skip to content” link is the first stop; focus is always visible; pages use real landmarks and a correct heading order; and all motion is disabled for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.

What we know is not perfect

Automated tools cannot judge everything, and we would rather say so than overclaim:

  • The gemstone wheel and the Stone Room are visual, motion-led experiences. Both are fully keyboard-operable and every stone has an ordinary page behind it, but the animated presentation itself is not the primary way to reach that content — the catalogue and the stone pages are.
  • The cut model in the Stone Room renders in 3D. It is decorative: everything it shows is also written in the text beside it.
  • Photograph descriptions name the piece, its kind and its stones. They are accurate but brief; richer descriptions of each photograph are on our list.
  • We have not yet completed a full audit with a screen reader on every page, nor a formal third-party assessment.
