Green Sapphire, the story
Fancy sapphires are generally less in demand than blue ones, and some colours are scarce, especially in very small or very large sizes. Still, fancy sapphires create a rainbow of options for people who like the romance associated with this gem, but who also want something out of the ordinary.
Green is a rare colour for a sapphire. In their natural state, green coloured sapphires range from light yellow-green to medium yellowish-green (“olive” or “leaf” green). These stones have significant secondary colours mixed in, such as yellow and blue that help achieve a wide variance of green hues.
